Fall Fanned Out Faces

Today I am sharing with you all another great Fall decoration idea brought to you by our crafty team in Seattle: Fall Fanned Out Faces!

We found this one in the October issue of Martha Stewart Magazine! Check out her new Halloween and Holiday Craft lines at any of our Paper Zone Locations!

What you’ll need:
- Three 8.5x11 sheets of text weight paper (Black : OWL, Orange: PUMPKIN)
- Double stick tape
- Scissors
- Oval hand punch
- Floral wire or Pipe cleaner
- A sheet of orange, yellow, and black –OWL Only
- A sheet of green –PUMPKIN Only
1: Score your three sheets of 8.5x11 paper; scoring the 11” side from top to bottom.

2:Use your double stick tape to attach all three pieces.

3: Secure middle with floral wire or pipe cleaner.
4: Again use your double stick tape to close the remaining open spots.

5: For Brow and Eye; Download the available PDF for the Owl’s Brow and eye and print. Trace the cut out shapes on your black and yellow paper.

6: For beak; Fold your orange 8.5x11 in half, using the top corner cut a 90 degree triangle off the top. Keeping your paper folded, draw the shape of beak you would like and cut. Open beak and punch two nostrils.

7: Double stick tape Brow, Eyes and Break on your Fanned Out Face.
8: Hole punch the top of your Fanned out face and hang.

Rosette Card

Hi Everyone

A few weeks ago, one of our blogs was about creating rosettes, and while visiting our Shoreline store, I saw a sample that Sara, the Assistant Manager, created using the rosette. It was so cute, I just had to re-create it and share it with you.

Ingredients for this card:

Patterned 12x12

Adhesive
Button
5.5x8.5 piece of cardstock, scored down the center, for your card base.
Scoring Tool
Paper Cutter
Embellishments

Step 1
Cut 4 pieces of out of the 12x12 measuring 2x3.

Step 2

Score down the middle of each piece at the 1 inch mark.

Score at 1/2 intervals down the width of the pieces

Step 3

Accordion fold the pieces and then fold down the center.

Step 4

Using adhesive on the inside of each folded piece, secure the sides. Using adhesive on the outer sides of each piece, secure the pieces together.

Step 6
Using adhesive secure a button in the middle of the rosette.

Step 7

Secure this mini rosette to your card and embellish as desired.

Here Comes Santa Clause?!

Sooooo...are you ready? Are you in the process of getting ready? Do I even dare ask? What might we be getting ready for, you might wonder? Well, CHRISTMAS don't you know! Oh my goodness, it's hard to believe that it is only six short weeks away. But it is. I see it on my many calendars. Sometimes, despite being able to see important dates on the horizon, I'm still behind the ball.

But, I am excited. I watched the Family Stone last night. Oh, I love that movie! Sad but funny, warm and touching all the same. And, I've pulled out the recipe binder and started thinking about what I will be cooking, since I am hosting Christmas at my house this year. For the first time. Yikes!! I have not, however, given much thought as to what I am going to do for holiday correspondence or decoration. Luckily, we've got some great stuff in our stores to inspire me. Something that I am particularly fond of right now is Making Memories Noel line. There are some truly great pieces to work with. Check out these 12x12, which are perfect for making cards or a background for a menu:


And these very fun and useful Findings Kit and Rosettes which are perfect for making gift tags and embellishing hand-made ornaments and cards:

And last, but definitely not least, an Advent Calendar Kit to count down the days 'til Santa Clause comes to town! Yes, I know, I am obssessed with calendars!

So what do you think? Don't you just love it? For me, it has that old-timey, curl-up-with-a-cup-of-cocoa feel, which is sure to sooth one's shopping, chopping, and tree trimming nerves. Oh, and just a reminder, pieces from the line are also included as a part of our Holiday Crafters Challenge!
