Day 6: Laminated Bookmarks

Materials:
- Assorted Paper
- Scissors or paper trimmer
- Double stick tape or glue
- Laminator & Pouches
- Assported Ribbon

Step1:
Cut a base of 7”X 2.5” using two sided printed paper such as scrap-booking paper

Step2:
Decorate the base by using color coordinated papers, apply with double sticky back tape or glue stick.

Tip: Try to keep your project as flat as possible for best results!

To laminate: use an 8.5”X14” thermal laminating pouch. Position your book markers in the pouch so that they have ½ an inch of clearance on all sides. Run the sheet through your laminator and trim as desired.

Tip: You can punch a hole on the top and put a ribbon through the hole. Trim the edges with a corner trimmer for a finished look.

Add an artistic touch when you give books for gifts: you can also use photos, or gift wrap from a special occasion.

Paper That Grows!

Earth Day is coming up this Friday, so what better time to introduce our new selection of paper from Bloomin! These new papers and mini gift cards can actually be planted and grow into a beautiful array of wildflowers like zinnias, snapdragons and daisies. Do you ever wonder what to do with cards you receive from your friends and family once you've read them and the holiday or special event has passed? I do. I always feel bad throwing them away, mostly because of the sentimental attachment, but also because it just contributes to the ever-growing landfill. With this paper, you can create beautiful cards and once your friends have enjoyed them, they can be planted in a special part of their garden or a pot on a window sill so the memory can last on and on. We are carrying these papers in 8.5x11 sheet packs (either white or assorted colors). The sheets are really versatile. They are sturdy enough to be used for greeting cards or boxes, but the cotton composition still allows it to be easily punched. It also works great in the letterpress machine!

In addition to the sheeets, we also have some mini gift enclosures available in a range of shapes and colors.

Not only are these 2.5" square cards great for a finishing touch on a gift, but the shapes could be used as an embellishment on a more elaborate card or other craft project. There are tons of uses for this paper from Easter greetings to a Mother's Day Card that actually turns into a bouquet!

Seed papers are also great for handmade weddings and baby showers. You can make your own favors like these cute little cards for all of your guests with your special message and planting instructions attached:

This is such a great way to add a little extra to your celebration and let your guests remember your day for months (maybe years) to come.

3rd Day of Christmas - personalized notepads

Although I do love making tasty treats around the holidays, I was trying to think of something different to do for my kids to hand out to their classmates this year. I needed something fairly easy since I had to make close to 60 of them and, of course, cost effective. So I came up with personalized note pads! These are quick, easy, and the end product is a cute, creative, and useful gift! Make these for stocking stuffers, gifts for co-workers, your favorite bank teller…or impress your boss!

For this project you will need:

• 3x5 notepad (only $0.59 each!)
• 12x12 cardstock paper (double-sided works best so that both the inside and outside are decorative; you can make 4 notepads out of each 12x12!)
• Scor-it-All Board
• Paper cutter
• Adhesive (ATG is my favorite!)
• Magnet tape with adhesive (only $1.29 for a 30 inch roll!)
• Any embellishments you may want to add (rub-ons, jewels, letter stickers, etc.

Follow these simple steps:

1. Cut a 12x12 sheet of cardstock into 4 strips, each measuring 3” x 12”.
2. Using the Scor-it-All Board, score at 1 ½ ” , then at 1 7/8”.
3. Starting from the other side, score again at 4 11/16” and at 5 1/16”.
4. Fold all scores, pressing firmly to make sure you have a nice indent.
5. Put adhesive on the middle section and the small section you scored closest to the long end.
6. Attach a 3x5 notepad. The adhesive will attach the cardboard back and top of the scratch pad to the decorative paper. Press firmly to make sure it attaches well.
7. Using the magnet tape with adhesive, cut two small, equal pieces.
8. Attach one to the front of the largest section of the notebook.
9. Before removing the adhesive of the second piece of magnet, stick it to the first piece (magnet to magnet). Remove the adhesive backing and fold up the little flap to adhere. This way, the magnet pieces will be lined up.

DONE! That simple!

You can embellish if desired. I attached a vellum strip printed with each classmate’s name for the class party favors. I just put them in a Polypro bag, tossed in some Shredz, added a pencil, a few pieces of candy, and topped it off with a piece of decorative and curling ribbon and they were adorable! (And less than $1.00 each!) On other ones I have made, I added adhesive pearls, cardstock stickers, and letter stickers. So many possibilities! --Sarah, Tacoma Store
